Updated Covid Protocol - CSBM & CSBW

Cricket Southern Bayside has adopted the Cricket Victoria COVID-safe recommendations to protect the health and safety of all affiliates, their members, spectators, visitors, and the wider community.

The requirements are aimed to assist CSB Clubs to work through Cricket Victoria’s COVID-safe recommendations. Always revert to the Cricket Victoria website for further information including the regularly updated FAQ section. • COVID sub: as season 2022/23 is one day games, no COVID sub will be allowed for players in games this season.

  • COVID positive player: although we can’t stop a player from playing in games if they are COVID positive, it is recommended that a player does not play if they are covid positive. If they do play, it is a club’s responsibility to separate them from other players and opposition and officials so as to minimise the risk of spreading COVID.

  • BYO food and drink: there will be no afternoon teas or shared food and drink during season 2022/23. Players are to supply their own food and drink for themselves.

  • Drinks breaks: need to be taken as quickly as possible, drinking from player brought drinks from their own containers. There will be no sharing of cups or drink bottles.

  • Shining of the ball: no saliva is to be used to shine the ball. Sweat is allowed to shine the ball.

  • No caps or clothing to umpires: no caps or clothing such as jumpers shall be given to an umpire to hold. Any clothing or hats should be taken off the field; this is the CSB preference. An alternative is for another player from the fielding team to wear the bowlers hat and/or clothing.
A third option, which is the least preferred, is for a bowler to place their hat and/or clothing a few metres behind the umpire, but not at their bowling mark (this is ok for a bowler with a short run).
If the hat/clothing behind an umpire is hit by a batter playing a shot, the ball is deemed dead and is to be re-bowled. If the slightly ball slightly touches the hat/clothing and there is no appreciative effect, play can continue.
If the ball hits the hat/clothing due to a throw, play is continued. If the ball gets stuck under the hat/clothing, the ball is called dead from that moment but what has occurred up to that point shall be recorded.
